Sergio Peña is a citizen of both the United States of America and United Mexican States. Born in Los Angeles California Mr. Peña received from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf in the United States (RID) certification as a sign language interpreter to pass the National Test Interpreter Certification (NIC). It also has the certification awarded by the National Council of Standards and Certification of Mexico. These achievements make him the first person to be certified as a Sign Language Interpreter in both countries.

addition to his certification, Mr. Peña also has a BA in Liberal Arts from the University of San Diego and a Diploma in Mexican Sign Language and English translation. Mr. Peña

currently serves as a certified interpreter, teacher, presenter and consultant for the company language ASL Services, Inc., an international provider of services. This company currently located its headquarters in Kissimmee, Florida. ASL Services, Inc. currently manages the company Thanks VRS and provides consulting services to Tijuana SVR. Sergio Peña

First in Nation to Be Dually Certified in Both LSM and ASL

Sergio Pena born in Los Angeles, CA, is a dual citizen of both the US and Mexico. He currently possesses a NIC certification (2008) in the US through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID). Mr. Pena has also obtained his LSM/English Interpreting certification in 2010 through the Consejo Nacional de Normatividad y Certificación in Mexico. This accomplishment makes him the first in the US to be certified under both the new national certification test in Mexico and through RID.

In addition to his certifications, Mr. Peña has a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from San Diego State University and a Post BA Certification in LSM/English Interpreting at the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California in Tijuana, Mexico.
